Plurk Cares
I think that most of us know this, just from hanging around there, but Plurk really cares about what we think. I was reminded of that again this morning when @amix posted a comment on yesterdays Plurkiverse post. He didn’t have to do that. Heck, I don’t even know how he knew that there was a post to be responded to. But he did, and he reiterated what the post and the comments were saying: there won’t be a Plurk API until it is certain that it will not interfere with the usability of Plurk.
Better yet, this is just a single instance among many that tells us that Plurk cares. Many of us have encountered @amix on line. Many of us have submitted ideas to Plurk, and have been gratified to have them turn into features. Although I’m sure were were not alone in this, @dotlizard and I (plus a couple of others) noodled together an idea one night. Dotlizard wrote it up here and submitted the link. That conversation turned very quickly into the mute feature.
For those of you that are not aware of it, that sort of thing does not happen on most sites. The A-Team is paying attention to what users want, and they are working hard to bring those things to us. They are trying to give us the Plurk that we want. Even better, they are doing so wisely, so that Plurk does not go the way of Twitter. I thank amix for coming by my little site and letting us know what is going on. I thank the A-Team for working hard to make Plurk better. But most of all, I thank Plurk for working smart, so that we can keep using our favorite social site without the outages and downtime that affect so many others.
I’m KDFrawg on Plurk, and I think the A-Team rocks!

Nicely done Sir! The A-Team deserves all the props you give. They’re responive, reactive and proactive!

Right on target again Kdfrawg. Plurk is doing a great job of listening to it’s Plurkers in Plurkville. It’s great to see feedback from the developers and know that they are listening to us.

Happy with A-Team and thanks to you KDFrawg and your plurk buddies for getting the new features on the map.

It is so true and thank you for voicing it as well, KDFrawg!
I’ve seen Plurk grow its features during my short time spent in Plurkland (and loving it) to find its growth is not down to what the Plurk Gods have planned for us but that it is us, the people, who are sharing and feeding back to them our ideas and suggestion.
I am looking forward to the aforementioned API when it does release, only when the land of Plurk is ready for it.

Good post Kdfrawg. And the A-team being committed to it’s community is a great thing to see. It “feels” good!

That was one of the best parts of Jaiku: that the developers used the service and encouraged all their key people (most notably Malach in NZ, who I thought of the nightwatchman while Helsinki slept) to join in the conversation.
You’re luckier than most with Plurk in that regard, though, probably because of this site. How do you think we can encourage a little “we’ve received your comment and are working on the problem” response when the “contact us” feature is used? In addition, since the Plurk folks were actively encouraging NOT being friends or even fans of everyone, can we really be sure they’re listening?
Congratulations on your good fortune with new features. Now, there’s a little “favorite” feature that would be nice….

In total agreement.

Well, I’m already highly spoiled by mixx as far as the admins caring about my opinion, lol.
I did once send them an email and never got a response… it was about people I had un-friended still showing up in my timeline. After a while it seemed to get better, though not totally fixed.

We love to have you guys and gals as our community and we do listen and read to a lot of Plurk related stuff each day. Me and Alvin also setup get satisfaction accounts in order to better cope with all the feedback we’re getting ( the link is http://getsatisfaction.com/plurk ).
Anyway, kudos to you, all the other Plurk blogging sites and Plurk fans for the hard work you put into it. It’s great and we feel honoured.
Regarding contact us responding: currently we only have one guy handling this and we get hundreds requests each day - if he answered them all, he wouldn’t do anything other than answering emails. But we do understand a problem here and I think a solution could be to use getsatisfaction or some other feedback site.

This thread is a great example of the A-Team’s dedication to Plurk and its users. I love seeing the creators chiming in now and again to let us know that they are listening and responding to our feedback.
Plurk is definitely not managed in a vacuum, and that’s nice to know.

Thanks, @amix, for letting us know about the feedback link. You folks have had a real “be-careful-what-you-wish-for” challenge with Plurk, and you’re to be commended for being able to keep up with as much as you do.
Thanks, and enjoy the ride!
