You may have missed it, with all of the hubbub of Plurk, but there is a new group operating in the Plurkosphere. It is Plurking Our Butts Off, and it is the brainchild of @NotAMeanGirl, with a lot of help from her friends, especially @dotlizard. It’s a support group for weight loss, and it shows just how great and useful Plurk can be. I just love it when way cool Plurkers come up with way cool ideas and can use Plurk to implement them.

@NotAMeanGirl, noticed (as have we all) the gigantic volume of food talk on Plurk. She also noticed that there was a lot of talk about eating and weight issues. Thus was @PlurkingOurButtsOff born. On this Plurk user account, people can add responses throughout the day asking their friends to report their activity levels, what they’ve eaten, what they are struggling with or a call to just give support. Basically they are there for one another, whatever the need. Just add @PlurkingOurButtsOff as your friend. This concept should get a gold star from us all.

For further support activities, @dotlizard has put together a way cool blog at pobo.me, where people can write about the problems that they have with weight, and about issues around weight. Please note that you can register with this site. If you have any questions about pobo.me, you can contact either @NotAMeanGirl, or dotlizard. There are currently 24 contributors and they would welcome more.

I have the following quote, straight from the mouth of the @NotAMeanGirl,: “Both the support group and the community blog are for ANYONE wanting to make ANY KIND of healthy lifestyle changes. We have people involved that want to loose 250 pounds to people that want to gain weight to people that just want to be more fit to people who just plain wanna look good nekkid!” I mean, how way cool is that? They will be posting on a wide variety of subjects, from personal stories, to work-out tips, to recipes, to exercise, to reports on the progress they have made on the goals they have set for themselves.

This is a group of Plurkers that truly impresses me. They are working to solve very tough problems, and they have seen that Plurk and the blogosphere can be put to work to help them. We all need to take their example, and to do something to make positive change happen in our society. Plurk can be a part of that and we should all look at this example and see if we can’t do something this pure and selfless for our fellow Plurkers.

I’m KDFrawg on Plurk and I promise never to throw my weight around. :)
